Job summary

Morgan Truck Body is seeking a Welder who will fuse aluminum, steel, and galvanneal components and also perform product assembly on our trucks. Expect to spend about 20% of time welding and 80% building finished products.

You will read blueprints, set up and maintain machines, and inspect welds to ensure top quality. This role supports safety/compliance and opportunities for internal leadership.

Qualifications

  • Weld test proficiency required.
  • Proficient in welding mild steel and galvanneal materials.
  • At least 6 months welding experience or welding school training.
  • Basic math, measurement, and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to support welding tasks with hand tools.
  • Able to read and apply measurements accurately.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints for welding.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Please note: This is a Welder role that includes both welding and product assembly duties. Employees can expect to spend approximately 20% of their time welding and 80% building and assembling finished products.

You'll expertly operate welding equipment to fuse aluminum, steel, and galvanneal components that form the backbone of our truck bodies. Your precision and skill ensure every truck we build is tough, durable, and ready to hit the road.

We promote almost 100% of our production leaders from within. Most start their leadership career in this welder role or general laborer/assembler role.

Responsibilities
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Master the art of reading and interpreting blueprints to weld metals with pinpoint precision.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Operate heavy equipment such as saws to prepare materials safely and efficiently.
  • Machine Setup & Maintenance: Own machine setup and preventative maintenance to keep production running smoothly.
  • Quality Inspection: Inspect every weld for defects and flaws to maintain top‑tier quality standards.
  • Welding Techniques & Certification: Learn and apply multiple welding methods and earn certifications.
  • Safety & Quality Compliance: Lead rigorous safety and quality checks, guaranteeing flawless results.
  • Safety Policy Adherence: Follow and promote all safety policies to protect yourself and your team.

  • Blueprint Literacy: Competent in reading and interpreting blueprints for specialized welding applications.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

  • Previous experience in manufacturing.
  • Previous experience working on truck bodies.
Physical Requirements

You'll be on your feet for extended periods, walking, and using your hands to operate tools and equipment with precision. Clear communication is required as you talk and listen as part of a safety‑focused, team‑driven environment. You’ll also lift up to 35 pounds and perform movements such as bending, squatting, reaching overhead, and occasionally crawling in tight spaces. Repetitive hand tasks and climbing ladders or working at heights are part of the role.
