Job summary

Morgan Truck Body in Janesville, WI is seeking a Welder for the first shift who will weld aluminum, steel, and galvanneal components and assist with assembly to build durable truck bodies. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and ongoing training to advance within production leadership.

You will learn and apply multiple welding techniques, participate in certification programs, and contribute to a strong quality-focused manufacturing team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a weld test to demonstrate skill and quality.
  • Proficient in welding mild steel and galvanneal materials.
  • Minimum of 6 months welding experience or completion of welding school training.
  • Solid grasp of basic math, tape measurement, and computer skills for precision.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints to weld metals with precision.
  • Operate heavy equipment and power tools to prepare materials for welding.
  • Set up machines and perform preventative maintenance to keep production flowing.
  • Inspect each weld for defects to ensure top-quality results.
  • Learn and apply multiple welding methods and pursue relevant certifications.
  • Follow safety and quality policies to protect yourself and the team.

Please note: This is a Welder role that includes both welding and product assembly duties. Employees can expect to spend approximately 20% of their time welding and 80% building and assembling finished products.

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Master the art of reading and interpreting blueprints to weld metals with pinpoint precision delivering exactly what customers and the company demand
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Take control of heavy equipment like saws to expertly prepare materials, powering the build process with skill and safety
  • Machine Setup & Maintenance: Own machine setup and preventative maintenance to keep production running smoothly and efficiently without a hitch
  • Quality Inspection: Sharpen your eye to inspect every weld for defects and flaws ensuring every piece meets top-tier quality standards

What You Bring to the Table:
  • Weld Test Proficiency: Must successfully pass a weld test to demonstrate skill and quality
  • Material Expertise: Proficient in welding mild steel and galvanneal materials
  • Experience & Training: Minimum of 6 months welding experience or completion of welding school training
  • Technical Skills: Solid grasp of basic math, tape measurement, and computer skills essential for precision
  • Tool Handling: Basic experience with hand tools to support welding tasks
  • Measurement Understanding: Able to accurately understand and apply measurements on the job
  • Blueprint Literacy: Competent in reading and interpreting blueprints for specialized welding applications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED required
  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older

  • Previous experience in manufacturing
  • Previous experience working on truck bodies
Physical Requirements:

Step into the heart of our fast‑paced manufacturing plant, where every task drives progress. In this hands‑on role, you'll be on your feet, standing for extended periods, walking, and using your hands to operate tools and equipment with precision. Clear communication is key, so you'll be regularly required to talk and listen as part of a safety‑focused, team‑driven environment. You’ll also lift up to 35 pounds and perform physical movements like bending, squatting, reaching overhead, and occasionally crawling in tight spaces. Repetitive hand tasks and climbing ladders or working at heights are part of the role.
