About the Opportunity

Under direct supervision, performs welding applications of varying complexity. Welds metal components for products including Utility Trailers, Cargo Trailers, Gooseneck Trailers, Flatbed Trailers, Dump Trailers, etc. Conducts visual and in-process inspections according to quality specifications. Develops skills in reading and interpreting blueprints. Assists in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving welding issues. Supports team objectives and passes periodic welding tests to maintain qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform work safely and professionally; report unsafe practices.
• Learn and understand layout, assembly, and welding procedures.
• Complete reports related to scrap, safety, quality, work orders, inventory, and cycle counts.
• Secure parts with bolts, clamps, and tack-welds for welding.
• Assemble parts by bolting as needed.
• Perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds; recognize team lifting opportunities.
• Learn techniques for repairing products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, cutting, and reassembling parts.
• Use or learn to use fabrication equipment like plasma cutters and cutting torches.
• Ensure weld quality, set up and run structural welds, and read drawings.
• Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting welding problems.
• Adhere to company quality programs, policies, and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Preferred: technical courses, vocational training, or military welding training.
• Strong understanding of blueprints, welding specifications, and procedures.
• Ability to use welding measuring devices like squares, levels, and tape measures.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Effective communication with supervision and team members.
• Ability to perform repair welds using fabrication tools.
• Basic math skills for material calculations.
• Learn to operate fabrication support equipment such as turntables, cranes, hoists, and lift tables.
