About the Opportunity

Under direct supervision, performs simple to complex welding applications. Welds metal components of products and trailers including Utility, Cargo, Gooseneck, Flatbed, and Dump Trailers. Conducts visual and in-process inspections according to quality specifications. Develops blueprints reading skills. Assists in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and solving welding issues. Supports team objectives and passes periodic welding tests to maintain qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform work safely and report unsafe practices.
• Learn and understand layout, assembly, and welding procedures.
• Complete reports related to scrap, safety, quality, work orders, inventory, and cycle counts.
• Secure parts with bolts, clamps, and tack-welds for welding.
• Assemble parts by bolting as needed.
• Lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and reach regularly; recognize team lifting opportunities.
• Learn repair techniques including dismantling, straightening, reshaping, cutting, and reassembling parts.
• Use or learn to use fabrication equipment like plasma cutters and cutting torches.
• Inspect welds, set up and run structural welds, and read drawings.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot welding problems within scope; adhere to quality, safety, and environmental policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.

• Ability to read measurement devices like squares, levels, and tape measures.
• Follow written and oral instructions effectively.

• Basic math skills for fabrication calculations.
• Learn to operate fabrication support equipment like cranes and hoists.
