Job summary

Miller Industries in Hermitage, PA is hiring a Weld Technician to weld metal parts per blueprints and perform quality bead work. You’ll work four 10-hour days on a 4-on 4-off schedule with opportunities for training, advancement, and tuition reimbursement.

The role requires basic welding skills, ability to read AWS blueprints, wear PPE including a PAPR, and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs. Overtime and benefits provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
  • Must be able to work a schedule of four days on, then four days off.
  • Must wear required PPE including a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).

Responsibilities

  • Welds metal parts per blueprints and performs bead inspection.
  • Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.
  • Repairs or rebuilds metal components as needed.
  • Cleans parts and prepares for welding.
  • Reads AWS blueprints and ensures conformance to specs.

Summary

Welds metal parts with gas welding equipment as specified by blueprints by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts.
  • Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.
  • Scarfs or grooves weld prior to applying filler metal.
  • Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
  • Cleans or degreases parts.
  • Ability to MIG weld.
  • Ability to read AWS blueprints.
  • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job including climbing step ladders, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Must be able to wear required PPE including a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) weighing approximately 2.5 pounds for extended periods of time (10-12 hours).

Education And Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be able to work a schedule of four days on, then four days off.

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.

  • Must frequently lift and/or move 5-30lbs.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to work four 10-hour days, occasionally working 40+ hours/week as business demands.
  • Ability to wear protective gear due to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Ability to frequently be exposed to flashing lights.
  • Must occasionally be exposed to weather conditions such as: precipitation, extreme cold and extreme heat.
  • Regularly required to wear hearing protection in a loud environment.
