Chief Industries, Inc. is seeking a welder skilled in GMAW welding and carbon arc gouging to produce certified welds for production materials.

The role emphasizes safety, quality control, and adherence to welding codes while performing machine setup and routine maintenance. Responsibilities include completing accurate paperwork, maintaining the Weld Earned Hour Ratio, and operating forklifts and cranes for material handling.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Proficient in using hand tools such as tape measures, squares, protractors, and grinding/arc gouging equipment.
  • Strong mathematical abilities, including working with fractions and decimals.
  • Quantified quality control experience, maintaining an 85% UT pass ratio, and holding required AWS certifications.
  • Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment and related machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety and efficiency, contributing to safety program and colleagues' well‑being.
  • Follow training guidelines, policies, and keep workspace clean and hazards addressed.
  • Maintain quality control standards, achieve the 85% UT pass ratio, and keep AWS certifications current.
  • Operate welding equipment with knowledge of capabilities and codes; manage setup and maintenance.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and perform tasks with minimal supervision; track weld Earned Hour Ratio.

Description

Responsible for performing GMAW welding processes/Carbon Arc Gouging on production materials in compliance with the required specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out responsibilities with safety and efficiency as a priority, prioritizing the well‑being of colleagues and actively contributing to the safety program by collaborating, sharing ideas, and voicing concerns.
  • Adhere to training guidelines, policies, and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized workspace and proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with quality control standards and maintain required AWS certifications, including meeting or exceeding the 85% UT pass ratio.
  • Operate assigned equipment with full knowledge of its capabilities and applicable welding codes, handling machine setup and routine maintenance.
  • Complete all job‑related paperwork and data entry accurately and manage tasks independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining the required weld Earned Hour Ratio.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to safely and efficiently transport materials as required.
  • Be capable of working independently or as a team with minimum supervision.

  • 2nd shift (4:30 pm – 3:00 am CDT)
Education
