TRAIL-EZE is seeking a skilled Welder to join our manufacturing team in Mitchell, SD. You will fabricate, assemble and repair metal components for heavy-haul trailers while upholding high standards for quality, safety, and craftsmanship.

Job Summary:

TRAIL-EZE is seeking a skilled and dependable Welder to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components used in the construction of heavy-haul trailers while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and craftsmanship.

Starting pay is based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate and assemble metal components using welding equipment and gas torches
  • Perform welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions using an iPad
  • Maintain required tolerances and quality standards
  • Position and secure materials using tables, jigs, clamps, fixtures, bolts, and tack welds
  • Safely operate welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and related equipment
  • Move workpieces, tools, and supplies manually or with overhead cranes
  • Grind, finish, and prepare completed products
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify defects or quality concerns
  • Repair or replace damaged components by removing and installing new parts as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Work independently while also being a dependable member of the team
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous welding and fabrication experience is preferred
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE use
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials as required
  • Willingness to learn new skills and grow within the company
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Manufacturing/shop environment
  • Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and physical activity
  • Ability to work safely around welding processes, metal materials, and industrial equipment
  • Ability to safely operate welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and machinery
  • Ability to lift, move, and position materials as required
  • Ability to work around and safely operate overhead cranes
