THE POSITION

Are you passionate about fabrication and possess the ability to accurately estimate costs for repairing diverse projects? This could be the next logical to your path to success! We invite you to join our prestigious Department of Transportation, Philadelphia County Maintenance Organization, where your ability to prioritize tasks effectively and maximize the use of fleet equipment in a productive manner will be highly valued.



DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be tasked with ensuring that all welding activities adhere to established quality and safety standards while working collaboratively with your team to achieve successful project outcomes. Your responsibilities will include a variety of welding tasks, such as welding, brazing, and cutting metals, both ferrous and non-ferrous. Working independently, you will showcase your skills in various trades, including repairing components, performing structural welding on bridge elements, and resolving issues related to equipment frames, hitches, and plows. Furthermore, you will skillfully fabricate repair parts and body components for numerous applications. Success in this role requires a strong foundation of knowledge and experience in welding processes and techniques.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
  • Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
  • Completion of an approved welder apprentice program; or
  • A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
