Job description

Job Description

The Welder has primary responsibility for using MIG equipment to weld small and large pieces of steel and aluminum. The Welder will set up equipment, clamp, grind or bolt the materials into the proper position before welding. The Welder will also inspect the final products for quality, based on blueprints and other technical drawings.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Review order form for product quantity and dimensions.
  2. Set weld controls based on voltage specifications.
  3. Use grinder tools to grind parts and welding tools to weld corners of steel or aluminum pieces.
  4. Ensure all equipment is properly set up and used safely, with safety devices in use.
  5. Inspect each welded piece to ensure quality, monitor equipment, and request maintenance when needed.
  6. May cross-train as backup in other areas of the manufacturing plant.
  7. Perform other job-related duties as required.

Core Requirements and Qualifications
  • 2+ years of manufacturing and welding experience.
  • Good mathematical ability and the ability to read and interpret dimensions.
  • Ability to operate precision measuring devices such as tape measures and rulers.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Demands: Heavy work requiring prolonged standing, use of tools, repetitive actions, bending, and carrying up to 50 lbs., especially loading parts onto conveyor lines.
  • Visual acuity to read orders, work instructions, production boards, and inspect parts.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Technical Welding College/Trade School.
