Job summary

Job description

Job Purpose

Applies basic skills and appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabrication of metal or other weldable materials to assemble structures.

Responsibilities

Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Set up equipment and weld metal parts together, using GMAW, SMAW, GTAW & SAW processes. Use equipment such as a cutting torch or carbon air torch to unite different parts of steel structures. Must be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of professional and technical associations. Practice good housekeeping skills and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies. Understand and follow safety policies and procedures. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others. Report workplace hazards, injuries, or illnesses immediately.

Qualifications

Any combination of requirements that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities will be considered. Minimum of five years of experience in welding fabrication of structural steel and verified structural weld test and/or demonstrated ability to perform basic skills according to testing requirements. Must have a current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable record at all times.

Additional Qualifications

Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status. Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and respond to inquiries. Ability to understand and comply with MRC guidelines and expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
