Job summary

Trillium Staffing in Houston, TX seeks a skilled Fitter to assemble large structural components in an industrial setting. This role requires extensive fit-up experience, blueprint reading, and the ability to work independently with welders and supervisors.

You will read blueprints, measure and align parts, perform tack welds, and use grinders, torches, and cutting tools. Must have 5+ years in heavy fabrication, HS diploma or GED, and pass pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in structural fit-up, heavy fabrication preferred.
• Strong blueprint reading and precise measurement skills.
• Ability to tack weld during fit-up and meet tolerances.

Trillium Staffing is now seeking Fitters in Houston, TX!

Schedules

• Nights: Monday-Friday with a 4:30pm start time, currently working 10.5 hour days, Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday OT.Pay rate is $26-$30/hr, depending on experience.

Candidates willbe fitting on large parts in an industrial setting that builds large custom machinery. Must have experience with full penetration plate splicing (3/8 ich to 1-1/4 inch).

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
• Measure, cut, and align metal components to prepare them for welding.
• Fit and assemble structural steel, pipe, or metal components according to specifications.
• Perform Flux Core welding on carbon steel.
• Experienced in 3G, SubArc, & 4G (overhead) welding
• Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and structural standards.
• Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, torches, and cutting tools.
• Operate cranes and forklifts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of structural fit-up experience (heavy fabrication preferred; oilfield/heavy fab backgrounds ideal—not pipe-focused). Must be in a dedicated Fitter position, not in combination with a Welder role.
• Strong blueprint reading and measurement skills with ability to measure accurately
• Ability to tack weld during the fit-up process
• Experience working with tight tolerances on structural assemblies
• Ability to work independently and collaborate closely with welders and supervisors
• Must have HS Diploma or GED
• Must pass preemployment screening
