Job summary

Johnson Controls United States site is seeking a Welder for 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 5:00 am–1:30 pm) to perform core welding tasks in a manufacturing setting. You will read blueprints, operate welding equipment, and ensure quality and safety in production processes.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, collaborating with supervisors, and continuously improving work cells while meeting production quotas.

1st Shift: Monday - Friday: 5:00 am-1:30 pm

What you will do

You will be responsible for the local delivery and execution of core welding to vendors and managers in accordance with Johnson Controls principles, corporate policies and procedures, and plant operations. You will perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, safety and health, productivity and ensuring employee compliance with Company policies in a manufacturing facility.

How you will do it
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
  • Operate Miller Aluma Pro Mig gun
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as GMAW, TIG, Plasma Cutter.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • Maintain safe work practices.
  • Conduct Technical Inspections.
  • Prepare input for various management and log reports.
  • Review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use.
  • Develop goals and priorities; assign tasks and projects.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques.

What we look for
  • The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal
  • Standard blueprint knowledge
  • This position will work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using GMAW and TIG welding processes.
  • The ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must.
  • The Welder will be required to have strong knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery.
  • Additionally, the Welder will be required to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions.

  • General use of hand and power tools
  • Experience with all safe practices, procedures, and overall processes.
  • Ability to work independently in busy environment.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in diverse working environments.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.
