Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. is seeking a Welder skilled in MIG welding to join our US operations. The role involves fabricating and repairing welded assemblies, reading blueprints, and maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with company standards.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent and prior MIG welding experience; certification is preferred but not required. Independence, shop math proficiency, and ability to interpret technical drawings are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months or more prior MIG welding experience preferred.
  • Certification preferred, not required.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Demonstrates shop math skills.
  • Can interpret blueprints, specifications, production layouts, technical drawings, work orders, instructions, etc.
  • Previous work-related experience and/or vocational training, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Satisfactorily completes company approved work sample demonstrating expertise for welding according to company standards.
  • Operate manual welding units and equipment by depositing metal from electrode to work piece and joins edges of work piece
  • Maintain length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead
  • Welds aluminum, steel, stainless, and galvanized.
  • Repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes
  • Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in a fixture
  • Tack assemblies together
  • May change hoses, fittings, air valves, suspension parts, etc.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow standard safety practices and regulations.
  • Cross-training and knowledge share with peers.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as required/assigned.
