Job summary

Rice Lake Weighing Systems is hiring a Welder for our Fernley, NV facility. You will perform MIG welding, read blueprints, and prepare parts to RLWS quality standards. The role requires lifting, grinding, and occasional blasting in a fast-paced shop environment.

The position runs Monday–Friday, 1st shift daytime hours with 40 hours guaranteed and overtime as needed. You will operate a range of power tools, cranes, and forklifts while maintaining a safe, productive work setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; welding training preferred.
• Welding experience or degree is essential.
• Ability to read weld procedures, blueprints, and manufacturing docs.

Job description

For nearly 80 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community.

At RLWS, our welders manufacture the toughest scales in the industry. The Welder will perform welding to satisfactory product standards and specifications, and ensured all items meet RLWS quality standards. This candidate will operate carbon air-arc, pencil grinders, disk grinders, cutoff wheels, and other hand tools as needed. This candidate will layout and fit various parts and assemblies while using various types of welding equipment set up in a variety of positions, such as flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead. The Welder will ensure high quality work and safe practices are followed. Other functions as assigned.

This position will work at our Fernley, NV location. Monday - Friday 1st shift daytime hours, 40 hours are guaranteed, with overtime as needed.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate the overhead crane and forklift to move material
• Perform MIG welding operations to RLWS quality standards and expectations
• Read blueprints to perform proper welds
• Grind parts and occasionally blast parts before or after welding operations
• Work in a small group setting and independently to complete required workload
• Operate power tools and basic hand tools
• Frequent lifting
• Occasional lifting/carrying up to 50lb
• Must have ability to read and speak English
• Other duties as assigned

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Welding degree or 2 (two) or more years of manufacturing welding experience

Skills

• Working knowledge of the practices, materials, methods, and tools of the welding trade
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precaution of the trade, and of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
• Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment
• Ability to read blueprints and other manufacturing documentation
• Good hand eye coordination and dexterity
• Good communications skills required
• Ability to efficiently read a tape measure and other inspection tools
• Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred
