General Summary

ES3 is seeking a Welding Fabrication Specialist to support multiple programs and long-term growth at our Materials Research and Development Center (MRDC) located in Clearfield, Utah. This position requires the candidate to perform fitting, cutting, welding, and soldering of metal components made from various alloys such as aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel, copper, and lead. The candidate will fabricate or repair products according to blueprints, work orders, or job travelers. Newly hired candidates will be qualified to AWS codes and standards. The position requires comfort working in an ISO9001:2015/AS9100D environment. ES3 values responsibility, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.

Education and Experience Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of a Trade School, Apprenticeship, Military School, or On-the-Job Training in Fabrication and/or Welding
• Prior AWS D1.1, 1.2, and 1.6 certification is a plus
• 5+ years of related experience; aerospace experience is a plus
• Proficiency in GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding
• Experience reading blueprints and working with tight tolerances and complex setups
• Strong attention to detail in inspecting welds
• Experience working with intricate work and various materials
• Knowledge of materials used in aircraft repair and their properties
• Skills in sheet metal layout, geometry, and mathematics
• Ability to weld ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including corrosion-resistant steels, copper, lead, brass, etc.
• Machining experience is a plus
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, follow procedures, and adhere to ISO9001/AS9100D standards
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with staff, customers, and officials

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read aerospace blueprints and work with tight tolerances
• Fabricate and weld conformal anode fixtures for plating operations
• Cut, position, and clamp components for welding
• Use measuring tools and hand tools for layout and assembly
• Perform welding using gas, soldering, MIG, and TIG processes
• Fabricate large-scale tanks from stainless steel sheets and frames
• Perform cutting, grinding, and related tasks
• Inspect work using micrometers, calipers, CMM, and XRF guns
• Follow safety procedures and work overtime as needed
• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Additional duties such as bending, cutting, and assembly
• Travel for tank line installation occasionally
