Acuren Inspection is currently looking for a Welder to support our operations for the East Region. THIS WILL BE A TRAVEL POSITION.

This position involves performing welding for casting upgrades, grinding/reworking/prepping areas that require welding, and general mechanical duties. The role works with numerous ASTM, MIL-standards, AWS & ASME-approved procedures, including MIG, TIG, Plasma & Orbital welding, Torch Brazing & Silver Soldering, and Stress Relief processes.

Responsibilities

1. Read blueprints and drawings, and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
2. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
3. Set up components for welding according to specifications.
4. Operate grinders to prepare parts for welding.
5. Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces.
6. Repair castings and other components by welding and filling gaps.
7. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures for flaws.
8. Maintain equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
9. Experience with reviewing Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) and handling background checks is a plus.
10. Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
11. Possess a strong understanding of industry terminology.
12. Maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
13. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

1. IRATA or SPRAT Level I or higher certification.
2. Recent graduation from a welding school or program.
3. General mechanical skills.
4. Experience with various welding procedures, especially TIG.
5. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
6. Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective gear.
7. Ability to prepare metal surfaces and remove discontinuities or defects prior to welding.
8. Post-welding finishing, including grinding and contouring to meet specifications.

Certified or previously certified in:

• Structural Steel - D1.1
• R Stamp for Pressure Vessels Alterations and Repair (GTAW/SMAW 6G)
