You will read drawings, set up and adjust welding equipment, monitor heat and distortion, inspect welds, and uphold BWise safety standards in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fit, and weld beds, frames, and small parts per orders.

  • Tack-weld or weld components using welding equipment.
  • Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating and distortion.
  • Inspect welds and use measuring tools to verify tolerances.
  • Maintain a clean, safe shop and follow BWise safety standards.

Retention Bonus $1,500 and 80 hours of Paid Time Off after first 90 days of employmentJOB SUMMARYLay out, fit, and weld metal components to assemble beds, frames, and small parts work orders.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESActively observe and promote BWise safety standardsAnalyze drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operation.Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using a variety of measuring tools.Tack-weld or welds component and assemblies using welding equipment.Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisor.Evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using appropriate measuring instruments.Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinder or hand file.Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.Ignite torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.Other duties, as assigned by Welding Supervisor.PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENTMust be capable of standing for entire shift and sit for extended periods of time.Able to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping.Will be exposed to extreme heat and cold depending on weather.Subject to dirt, dust, oil, welding fumes, electric shock, bright lights, UV radiation, burns, traffic hazards, and high noise levels in the workplace.PPE REQUIREMENTSSteel-toed shoes or composite shoesSafety glassesEarplugsGloves when handling any materialWelding Helmet (Company doesn’t provide helmet but provides all consumables including lenses.)Grinding shieldWelding sleevesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or GED.Must be able to read, write, count, communicate by various channels.Must have appropriate high school, vocational-technology school, or trade school training/certification in welding and/or demonstrated ability/expertise from on-the-job training from previous employment.Understand fundamentals of metallurgy as they relate to welding.Ability to read a tape measure.Ability to read and fully comprehend work instructions, prints, and work specifications.
