Job summary

BWise Trailers is seeking a skilled welder to lay out, fit, and weld metal components to assemble beds, frames, and small parts work orders. You will actively follow BWise safety standards and read drawings to plan layouts and welding operations.

Responsibilities include layout, welding in various positions, torch operation, and careful inspection of weld quality. Candidates must read prints and have welding training or proven on-the-job skills, with ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, count, and communicate by various channels.
• Must have welding training/certification or demonstrated on-the-job welding ability.
• Understand fundamentals of metallurgy as they relate to welding.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, prints, and work specifications.

• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies per specifications using measuring tools.
• Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies using welding equipment.
• Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating, warping, or distortion.
• Detect faulty operation of equipment or materials and notify supervisor.
• Evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
• Inspect grooves, angles, or gaps using measuring instruments.
• Remove rough spots from work pieces with grinders or files.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage for desired flame or arc.
• Other duties as assigned by Welding Supervisor.

Job Summary

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Actively observe and promote BWise safety standards
• Analyze drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operation.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using a variety of measuring tools.
• Tack-weld or welds component and assemblies using welding equipment.
• Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
• Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisor.
• Evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
• Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using appropriate measuring instruments.
• Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinder or hand file.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Ignite torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
• Other duties, as assigned by Welding Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Must be capable of standing for entire shift and sit for extended periods of time.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping.
• Will be exposed to extreme heat and cold depending on weather.
• Subject to dirt, dust, oil, welding fumes, electric shock, bright lights, UV radiation, burns, traffic hazards, and high noise levels in the workplace.

Ppe Requirements

• Steel-toed shoes or composite shoes
• Safety glasses
• Earplugs
• Gloves when handling any material
• Welding Helmet (Company doesn't provide helmet but provides all consumables including lenses.)
• Grinding shield
• Welding sleeves

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to read, write, count, communicate by various channels.
• Must have appropriate high school, vocational-technology school, or trade school training/certification in welding and/or demonstrated ability/expertise from on-the-job training from previous employment.
• Understand fundamentals of metallurgy as they relate to welding.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to read and fully comprehend work instructions, prints, and work specifications.
