What’s the Job Like?
The successful Production Welder will perform duties including rework, fitting, and welding according to instructions, blueprints, and specifications. This indoor position offers heating and air conditioning, with day shift hours.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lay out, position, align, and fit components using applicable tools and equipment.
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts for final welding.
- Set up and weld parts using welding equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of geometry, structural design, and blueprint interpretation.
- Operate hand tools and shop machines correctly.
- Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on various metals.
- Maintain production documentation.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Follow all company and HSE policies.
Facility Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate and precision welding techniques.
- Design, fabricate, and repair components using various welding techniques.
- Operate drill presses, power saws, grinders, and welding equipment.
- Analyze plans and specifications to determine work requirements.
Education and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a two-year welder's training program plus 4 years of experience, or equivalent experience totaling 6+ years.
- 2-4 years experience with MIG and TIG welding on thin materials.
- 2-4 years experience with spot welding machines.
- Ability to work overtime and change shifts as needed.
- Ability to set up and operate ARC stud and spot welding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fabrication and repair of various metal objects and structures.
- Experience with Laser Welding and knowledge of applicable codes.
- Knowledge of welding techniques and non-destructive inspection.
- Experience programming and operating robot welding machines with FANUC controls.
Working Conditions
- Normal manufacturing environment.
- Frequent lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Use of safety equipment required.
- Standing 65% of the time.
- Some overtime required.
- Works under immediate supervision.
