Job summary

QPS Employment Group is hiring a Weld Trainee in Darien, Wisconsin. This is a first-shift position with a potential to hire after training. Responsibilities include MIG welding, fabricating stainless steel tanks, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring leak-proof welds.

Preferred candidates have prior welding experience or welding school training, can read blueprints, and are able to work safely in a manufacturing setting. The wage is $19.15/hour.

Job description

Position Title: Weld Trainee Wage: $19.15/hour Shift: 1st Hours: 6:00am-4:30pm QPS Employment Group is hiring a Weld Trainee for a company in Darien, WI. This is a potential to hire opportunity on 1st shift.

Weld Trainee Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform MIG welding and occasional TIG welding according to work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures
• Fabricate and weld stainless steel tanks and related components to company and customer specifications
• Ensure all welds are leak-proof and capable of passing required pressure testing
• Verify that fixtures, jigs, and components are properly positioned before welding
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication
• Perform precision grinding, smoothing, polishing, and finishing of stainless steel products
• Inspect completed work for weld quality, appearance, and dimensional accuracy
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Assist experienced welders and participate in on-the-job training programs to further develop welding skills
• Work efficiently to meet production schedules and quality expectations

Weld Trainee Requirements:

• Previous welding experience required; MIG welding experience preferred
• Welding school, technical training, or related coursework is a plus
• Prior manufacturing or industrial experience preferred
• Ability to read measuring devices and basic blueprints is preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision after training
• Willingness to learn new skills and accept coaching from experienced team members
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with elevated temperatures
• Must be able to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
• Frequently bend, reach, twist, stoop, and perform repetitive movements
• Ability to work safely with welding equipment and fabrication tools
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds when handling materials, parts, or equipment
