Job summary

G&W Electric Co is seeking a Quality Weld Inspector for the 2nd shift (1:00pm to 9:30pm) to ensure welded and fabricated parts meet engineering drawings, welding requirements, and customer specs. The role focuses on in-process and final inspections on the manufacturing floor, collaborating with welders and engineers to prevent defects.

The candidate will perform dimensional checks, verify WPS adherence, document inspection results, and support NCR/NCMR processes as needed.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and welding symbols.
• Experience using dimensional and weld inspection equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues.
• Ability to follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-weld, in-process, and final inspections according to drawings, specifications, inspection plans, and procedures.
• Verify products meet requirements before they move to the next operation.
• Identify quality issues and process deviations early to reduce rework, scrap, and production delays.
• Provide immediate feedback to Welders, Team Leaders, and Supervisors when problems are found.
• Verify all required inspections and quality checkpoints are completed.
• Inspect joint prep, fit-up, alignment, gaps, dimensions, cleanliness, and readiness for welding.
