Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking a quality weld inspector to ensure welded and fabricated products meet engineering drawings, welding requirements, and customer standards. The role focuses on on-floor inspections at key production stages, working closely with welding and engineering teams to prevent defects and contain issues early.

The position requires reading drawings, understanding welding symbols, and using inspection tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical/manufacturing education preferred.
• Experience inspecting welding, fabrication, machining, or manufacturing.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of welding processes and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Experience with dimensional and weld inspection equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-weld, in-process, and final inspections according to drawings, specs, and procedures.
• Verify products meet requirements before moving to next operation.
• Identify defects early to reduce rework and scrap.
• Provide feedback to welders and supervisors when issues are found.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and traceability.
• Support NCR/NCMR documentation and containment as needed.
• Assist in root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
