Job summary

LaForce, Inc. is seeking a Welder Lead to head our Frame Welding Shop in Green Bay, WI. This role blends hands-on welding with team leadership to plan, organize, and drive daily production while maintaining safety and quality.

You will champion Lean Manufacturing practices, mentor teammates, and collaborate across departments to keep schedules aligned and issues resolved. Strong MIG/GMAW and plasma cutting skills required.

Qualifications

  • Strong welding experience with MIG/GMAW processes and plasma cutting.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, work orders and specs.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily welding operations to meet production schedules.
  • Perform hands-on welding, fit, weld, and grind light-gauge door frames with precision.
  • Implement improvements to quality, efficiency, and safety.

As the Weld Lead, you'll balance hands-on welding expertise with team leadership responsibilities. Your role will involve planning, organizing, and driving daily production activities while maintaining high safety and quality standards. You'll also play a key part in fostering a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Coordinate: Oversee daily welding operations, ensuring production schedules are met efficiently.
  • Hands-On Welding: Fit, weld, and grind light-gauge sheet metal door frames with precision.
  • Process Improvement: Implement solutions to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Training & Development: Mentor team members to enhance skills and maintain high performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to align schedules and address issues.
  • Safety & Quality: Uphold a safe work environment and ensure all work meets exacting quality standards.

Qualifications

We’re seeking a dependable leader with the following:

  • Strong welding experience, including MIG/GMAW and plasma cutting.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and a track record of process improvement.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) and relevant hands-on experience.
