Job summary

The Baker Company in Sanford, Maine is seeking a Value Stream Supervisor for Weld & Grind/Polish to lead a skilled welding and finishing team and ensure products meet the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and safety.

This hands‑on leadership role emphasizes coaching, Lean/Continuous Improvement, KPI tracking, downtime management, and collaboration with production teams to maximize line capacity and reduce scrap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent manufacturing experience
• Five years manufacturing experience
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
• Experience with Lean

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of assigned employees, including interviewing, hiring and training
• Assist and support plant teams with goal-setting and tracking for Continuous Improvement measures
• Manage unscheduled equipment down time
• Select and apply appropriate Continuous Improvement tools to improve line capacity, production efficiency and process reliability
• Use KPIs to drive the operation and improve the process
• Support the capital plan and ensure compliance to schedule targets
• Create control plans for improvements to sustain gains
• Mentor teams on Continuous Improvement and Lean methodology
• Ensure documentation is completed and compliance maintained
• Identify, recommend and implement productivity improvements and reductions in scrap
• Direct and monitor department leads to achieve manufacturing plan goals
