Job summary

Chart Industries in Theodore, AL is seeking a Weld Engineer to develop, maintain and implement weld processes to support the Theodore facility, collaborating with design, quality, drafting and production management to resolve production issues.

You will lead weld process qualification, document WPQ/A FE, specify equipment needs, provide shop-floor training, and report on ongoing activities and improvements to increase capacity and reliability.

Qualifications

Minimum BS degree in Weld Engineering, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
At least 3 years’ experience as Weld Engineer in shop production or field construction.
Familiarity with GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW and SMAW welding processes.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, Word and weld programs like C-Spec.
Knowledge of statistical process control fundamentals.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and management training.

Responsibilities

Assign and control WPS/PQR/WPQR and welding parameters in compliance with standards.
Control and maintain WPQs and logs for GTAW/GMAW/FCAW/SMAW processes.
Identify and resolve production issues with design engineering, quality, drafting, and production staff.
Provide ongoing testing, training, process implementation or shop floor activities.
Specify and justify new or replacement welding equipment; issue POs as needed for capacity.
Provide reports on shop floor activities and project outcomes.
Other duties as assigned.
