We're hiring a Weld Engineer for our nuclear client to support weld process development and supplier qualification for an advanced reactor project. This role is at the intersection of materials science and nuclear component manufacturing as part of a collaborative engineering team.

What You'll Do

You'll own weld engineering across multiple reactor development projects: developing weld designs, specifications, and processes; evaluating suppliers and driving their technical readiness; and analyzing test data (metallography, NDE, mechanical properties) to generate reports that directly feed reactor qualification and licensing efforts. You'll also advise design teams on weld geometry, configuration, and method selection.

The focus is new design and process development, often in uncharted territory for reactor-grade components. Occasional travel may be required up to 10%.

What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of weld engineering experience in materials science, welding engineering, or a closely related field
  • Experience developing weld designs and processes for pressure vessels, piping, or similar equipment
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section IX; NQA-1 familiarity is a strong plus
  • Solid metallurgical foundation, specifically with austenitic and ferritic-martensitic steels and nickel-base alloys under high-temperature service conditions
  • Exposure to complex failure modes: creep, fatigue, creep-fatigue, SCC, fracture
  • Experience qualifying welds for regulated applications (nuclear, aerospace, defense, or similar) is preferred
  • Supplier development or component procurement support experience is a plus
