Job summary

Averro seeks a Senior Welding Engineer for an advanced energy company to drive welding process development and automation. Lead GTAW, GMAW, and spray MIG development for stainless steel pressure vessels and pioneer welding procedures.

You will collaborate with design engineers and NDE, mentor fabrication teams, and ensure weld quality metrics, with hands-on shop-floor support and knowledge of ASME BPVC Section IX.

Qualifications

• BS in Materials Science, Metallurgical/Mechanical Eng or related field.
• 5+ years welding engineering experience including process development and qualification.
• Experience with ASME BPVC Section IX.
• Hands-on GTAW on stainless steel pressure-boundary applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, and optimize welding processes for stainless steel pressure vessels; lead welding procedure development from scratch.
• Evaluate and qualify advanced processes (laser beam, electron beam, hybrid laser-arc) for pressure system applications; design parametric studies and datasets.
• Identify and implement orbital GTAW, mechanized MIG, and robotic welding; develop parametric programs for automated systems to drive consistency and reduce cost.
• Partner with design engineers and NDE personnel to ensure weldability and root-cause analysis on defects.
• Provide hands-on production support, mentor welders, and maintain weld quality metrics and documentation.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Senior Welding Engineer for an advanced energy company which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in advanced welding process development and automation looking to further their career in cutting-edge nuclear welding technology.

• Develop, qualify, and optimize welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, spray MIG) for stainless steel pressure vessels; lead zirconium welding procedure development from scratch
• Evaluate and qualify advanced processes (laser beam, electron beam, hybrid laser-arc) for pressure system applications; design parametric studies and build qualification datasets
• Identify and implement orbital GTAW, mechanized MIG, and robotic welding; develop parametric programs for automated systems to drive consistency and reduce cost
• Partner with design engineers and NDE personnel to ensure weldability, interpret quality results, and drive root cause analysis on defects
• Provide hands-on production support, mentor welders, and maintain weld quality metrics and documentation infrastructure

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of welding engineering experience including process development and qualification
• Experience with ASME BPVC Section IX
• Hands-on GTAW expertise on stainless steel pressure-boundary applications
• Experience welding zirconium, titanium, or Inconel under inert-atmosphere conditions highly desired
• Comfortable on the shop floor evaluating welds in progress and providing hands-on technical guidance to fabrication teams
