Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing, a leading employee-owned supplier of complex metal assemblies for the automotive industry, seeks a QA Inspector on 1st shift in Kansas City, Missouri. You will perform destructive and non-destructive tests, use hand and power tools, and ensure parts meet specifications.

You will uphold the Quality Policy, document non-conformities, participate in corrective actions, and assist with data analysis and reporting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Understanding of measurement and quality testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Uses hand tools and power tools to perform destructive/non-destructive tests on materials, parts or products.
  • Inspects materials for conformance to specifications and documents non-conformances.
  • Operates equipment to break welds and conducts acid/measurement tests as needed.
  • Evaluates data, writes reports, and logs deviations from standards.
  • Performs housekeeping and contributes to continuous improvement activities.

Conducts corrective actions and perform problem solving analysis and reporting as required.Conducts housekeeping for personal work area and shared facility space.Observes and complies with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and statutory requirements associated with this job description.Participates in needs analysis and attends and performs the requirements of scheduled training and educational programs identified for this position.Participates, as requested, in independent objective auditing activities and supports company continuous improvement activities.Supports productions on the processes that are appropriate and contain suspect or defective material or services to avoid further processing.Uses hand tools such as but not limited to cutter, pry-bar, and bench vice to perform destructive and/or nondestructive tests on materials, parts or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics.Uses power tools such as but not limited to air-hammer, chop saw, plasma cutter, and hand grinder.Inspects materials, parts or products for conformance to specifications and contacts the Supervisor to discuss non-conformances.Operates cutters, grinders, and press equipment to break welds.
