Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Quality Inspector for our Kansas City plant. You will apply the Quality Policy, perform tests on materials, and identify non-conformities to help prevent recurrences.

You will participate in required training and support continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires reading/writing English, attention to detail, and ability to operate measurement and basic test tools.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED and ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • At least 1 year related experience or training preferred.
  • Familiarity with measurement tools and basic math.
  • Knowledge of quality policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Explain and apply the Quality Policy and related procedures to the job.
  • Identify non-conformances and log them for corrective actions.
  • Support independent auditing activities and continuous improvement.
  • Use hand and power tools to test materials and parts for performance and conformance.
  • Complete paperwork and communicate findings to Weld Technicians and supervisors.

Who We Want:

Uses hand tools such as but not limited to air chisel, chop saw, plasma cutters, grinders, hammer drill, pry-bar, and bench vice to perform destructive and/or nondestructive tests on materials, parts or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics. Use of visual aids and computer programs.

Conducts corrective actions and perform problem solving analysis and reporting as required. Conducts housekeeping for personal work area and shared facility space. Observes and complies with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and statutory requirements associated with this job description. Participates in needs analysis and attends and performs the requirements of scheduled training and educational programs identified for this position. Participates, as requested, in independent objective auditing activities and supports company continuous improvement activities. Supports productions on the processes that are appropriate and contain suspect or defective material or services to avoid further processing. Uses hand tools such as but not limited to cutter, pry-bar, and bench vice to perform destructive and/or nondestructive tests on materials, parts or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics. Uses power tools such as but not limited to air-hammer, chop saw, plasma cutter, and hand grinder. Inspects materials, parts or products for conformance to specifications and contacts the Supervisor to discuss non-conformances. Operates cutters, grinders, and press equipment to break welds. Along with the use of nitric acid, in order to conduct acid and measurement tests with lecoscope Uses measurement tools such as but not limited to calipers and micrometers to ensure adequate welds of parts or products. Completes appropriate paperwork to inform Weld Technicians of part failure for equipment repair and/or service. Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. Enters data into graphs and charts that are given by engineering Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability. Completes appropriate paperwork, records data, and turns completed paperwork into Supervisor

When and Where:

This will be a 1st Shift / 6:00AM-2PM M-F position located at our Plant in Kansas City, MO. Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.

What You Need to Have:

Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications. One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred Able to stand for 8-10 hours a day and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Safety shoes (ie. composite, carbon, or steel toed shoes) Prior metrics and standard measurements knowledge Ability to tear apart a weld Knowledge of how to operate pneumatic and power tools. Basic computer navigational skills Comprehensive abilities Ability to use basic math skills
