Job summary

Global Power Components is seeking a Weld Test Coordinator to support AWS welder certification across our manufacturing facilities. The role partners with CWIs and welding leadership to drive qualification processes on a fast-growing shop floor.

The ideal candidate is a Certified Welding Inspector with hands-on welding knowledge, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coach welders throughout certification.

Qualifications

• Must hold current CWI certification.
• Strong AWS welder qualification knowledge.
• Experience with heavy-gauge steel fabrication.
• Ability to read weld symbols and engineering drawings.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate AWS welder qualification and certification activities.
• Schedule and administer welder certification testing with CWIs.
• Prepare welders for testing by reviewing requirements, procedures, and test expectations.
• Monitor weld tests and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Maintain records of qualifications, certifications, and test results.
• Track certification requirements and identify testing needs.
• Coordinate activities with Weld Supervisors, Leads, and production schedules.
• Assist CWIs with inspections and related documentation.
• Review test results and communicate deficiencies.
• Help identify recurring welding issues and training needs.
• Ensure adherence to welding procedures and quality requirements.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, specs.
• Support continuous improvement in weld quality and certification.
• Promote safety, quality, and accountability in welding operations.
