Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
  • 1+ years of relevant asphalt/construction experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with scale operations and regulatory rules (DOT/CDOT).
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety procedures.
  • Strong data entry and documentation skills.

Job Summary

The Asphalt Weighmaster is responsible for the accurate weighing, ticketing, and documentation of all customer and internal vehicles entering and exiting the asphalt plant. Acting as the primary point of contact for drivers and customers, the Weighmaster ensures that all outbound loads comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company quality standards. This role requires a balance of technical proficiency in scale software, strong administrative skills, and a 'safety-first' mindset in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Beyond the scale house, you provide essential customer service and communicate effectively with plant operators and drivers to ensure a seamless loading process.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Accurately enter customer data, product codes, and haulage information into the ticketing system to produce official proof-of-purchase documents. Ensure all outbound trucks comply with state-specific legal weight limits (e.g., CDOT/DOT rules) to prevent overloads and potential legal infractions. Coordinate with plant operators to ensure the correct mix and tonnage are loaded according to the specific customer order. Direct incoming and outgoing truck traffic to the appropriate loading areas, ensuring a smooth and safe flow of vehicles throughout the yard. Act as the central communication hub between the scale house, asphalt plant Foremen, Loaders, and Dispatch teams via CB radio and telephone. Coordinate with Loader Operators to ensure trucks are loaded with the correct material and to report any loading discrepancies. Answer customer inquiries, process cash and credit sales with high accuracy. Research and resolve ticket discrepancies or customer complaints promptly, documenting findings for management review. Administer site-specific safety training and orientation for all visitors, vendors, and new drivers to ensure compliance with Martin Marietta's safety protocols. Maintain meticulous daily, weekly, and monthly records of tonnage, sales activity, and inventory reconciliation. Maintain a clean and professional, scale house environmentBook and verify schedulesEnter customer orders into apex for both Fresno and Visalia PlantsAnswer the phone to take new orders, change/cancel orders and answer customer questions regarding asphalt products, progress on current jobs and potential delaysWork with sales and QC to ensure job accuracy. Maintain constant contact with plant operators and daily customers for tonnagesMark jobs complete as they are finishingHandle all credit card transactions accurately and send all paperwork to accounting in a timely manner.Assist any person/driver with questions they may have while on site. Make sure everyone has completed a site specific for the calendar year.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.

Work Experience

1+ years of relevant experience in an Asphalt or Construction-related environment is highly preferred. Familiarity with heavy equipment or trucking operations is a significant plus. Familiarity with scale operations is preferred.

Physical Requirements

You must be able to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods to manage high-volume truck traffic.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Required to bend, stoop, climb, and reach.

You must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.

Working Conditions

All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry and dusty.

Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.

The hiring range for this position is $22.00 -$34.00 exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position.
