Job summary
Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital & Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Flat Rock, NC is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for weekend shifts. You will support veterinarians and technicians with daily tasks, equipment maintenance, patient handling, and clerical duties in a busy ER/general practice.
The role requires compassion, ability to triage, assist with medications and restraints, and strong teamwork in a 24/7 hospital environment.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position
- ER Experience required
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care to all patients
- Greet patients and owners, check weight and vital signs
- Triage patients and assist with treatments under supervision
- Calm and soothe anxious patients
- Assist doctors and technicians with medications and restraints
- Perform laboratory tests and radiographs
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment
- Fill prescriptions and document controlled drugs
- Feed and groom patients as prescribed
- Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and plans
- Maintain hospital cleanliness and safety
- Adhere to safety regulations
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Show up for full-time shifts
- Promote hospital products and services
