Job summary

New England Center and Home for Veterans is seeking a Low Demand Weekend Day Counselor to support a twenty-bed, 24/7 program for Veterans experiencing homelessness with mental health and/or substance use disorders.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing, with responsibilities spanning crisis intervention, documentation, and cross-team collaboration. Weekend shifts are 7am–3pm, Saturday and Sunday, in Boston, MA.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred is listed in qualifications.
• Three to five years’ experience with substance abuse and mental illness in a diverse population.
• LADC or CADC preferred; Veteran status a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work within the low threshold model of service in a 20-bed, 24/7 program.
• Maintain safety, manage crises, and intervene with residents as needed.
• Collaborate with VA, operations, and other NECHV staff; follow event reports.
