Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Princeton, NJ is seeking a Swim Instructor to teach water safety and swimming techniques using our curriculum.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Must pass background examinations (included with training).

Responsibilities

• Provides swim instruction according to the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Enforces safety rules; makes rescues and administers first aid when needed.
• Evaluates progress and completes required paperwork promptly.
• Interacts with parents/guardians about student progress.
• Acts as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Uses problem solving to resolve student challenges.
• Inspects pool areas before/after class; reports issues to management.
• Maintains pool equipment and manages lane lines.
• Reports accidents and completes documentation.
• Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
• Light cleaning duties as needed.
• Attends required workshops and in-service training outside hours.
• Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Summary

Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
2. Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary.
3. Evaluates students’ progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
4. Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills.
5. Acts as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction.
6. Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
7. Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate.
8. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines.
9. Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork.
10. Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
11. Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion.
12. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours.
13. Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification provided.

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
