Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Princeton, NJ is hiring a Swim Instructor to teach water-safety and stroke techniques to children using our curriculum. You’ll work under a Deck Supervisor, maintain pool safety, and support a fun, energetic team.

We offer flexible schedules, paid training, and opportunities for advancement. Candidates should enjoy working with kids and be able to pass background checks. Lifeguard/CPR certs are provided by us.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification provided.
• Background examinations required (included with training).

Responsibilities

• Provide swim instruction based on Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Enforce safety rules and supervise rescues and first aid when necessary.
• Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork.
• Interact with parents/guardians on students’ progress and development.
• Act as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Maintain and inspect pool areas and report issues to management.

Job Title: Swim Instructor

Reports to: Deck Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
2. Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary.
3. Evaluates students’ progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
4. Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills.
5. Acts as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction.
6. Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
7. Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate.
8. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines.
9. Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork.
10. Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
11. Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion.
12. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours.
13. Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification provided.

Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
