Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team by maintaining sterile setup, passing instruments, and assisting with preparation and cleanup. The role includes helping with specimen handling and equipment readiness and may involve turnover duties between cases.

Responsibilities emphasize aseptic technique, collaboration with clinicians, and supporting a safe, efficient surgical environment.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining sterile technique and aseptic environment.
• Ability to pass instruments, sponges and sutures efficiently.
• Minimum level of program completion with certification or military training aligned to surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants during procedures.
• Maintain clean, safe operating room environment and aseptic technique.
• Assist with preparing and disposing of specimens and dressings.
• Prepare OR before operations and ensure equipment works properly.
• Serve as a resource to staff and precepts students and new hires.
