Job summary

St. Luke's is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a weekend shift (Fri–Sun, 8am–8pm) in Chesterfield, MO. The role supports the SPD by handling instruments, ensuring proper sterilization, and maintaining documentation.

You will work closely with OR staff and supervisors to uphold quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, experience in SPD or OR, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CRCST or Certified Surgical Technician certification preferred; obtain within 180 days of hire.
• 1 year SPD or OR experience preferred; 2-5 years of face-to-face customer service required.
• Ability to work on weekends/holidays and participate in on-call shifts.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with sterilization equipment and processing protocols.

Responsibilities

• Handle and process surgical instruments and equipment.
• Requisition, replenish, and clean sterilization equipment and instruments as needed.
• Retrieve and transport soiled equipment from point of use.
• Organize, load, unload, and clean equipment following protocols.
• Oversee sterilization workflow from start to finish.
• Build instrument trays, packages, and supply sets for sterilization.
• Process instruments through sterilization cycles and store properly.
• Perform biological and chemical indicator testing per QA protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with OR staff on improvements.
