Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network in Pennsylvania seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical services. You will decontaminate, clean, assemble, sterilize and distribute instruments and supplies used across patient care areas.

Initial training lasts 8–12 weeks on the 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift, then transitions to later shifts with weekend/holiday on-call rotations. Must have a High School diploma and SPD certification within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• SPD certification required within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves, decontaminates, cleans, assembles, processes, sterilizes, stores and distributes medical devices, equipment, procedure trays and supplies used in patient care.
• Performs quality checks for cleanliness, sharpness and proper functioning of instruments.
• Performs high level disinfection (HLD) on items that cannot be sterilized.
• Assembles and wraps items for sterilization.
• Sterilizes items by steam or ETO.
• Prepares case carts for the Operating Room.
