Job summary

SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for weekend per-diem coverage in Syracuse. You will perform assessment and treatment of swallowing, cognition, speech and language disorders across inpatient settings, spanning pediatric to geriatric patients.

A Master’s in Speech Pathology, NYS licensure and ASHA CCC-SLP (or equivalent) are required, with BLS-CPR by appointment. Join a dedicated team focused on outcomes and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech Pathology is required.
• New York State licensure is required.
• Clinical certification in Speech Pathology (ASHA CCC-SLP) is required or equivalent.
• BLS-CPR certification by time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care including assessment and treatment of swallowing, feeding, speech, language, and cognitive disorders.
• Cover the spectrum of inpatient diagnoses including stroke, head trauma, head and neck cancer, chronic airway disorders, and related conditions.
• Provide services for speech, language, and swallowing in a medically based practice; pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Collaborate with other health care providers and families; maintain timely patient care documentation.

The Speech Language Pathologist - Weekend will be responsible for direct patient care including assessment and treatment of swallowing, feeding, speech, language, and cognitive disorders covering the spectrum of inpatient diagnoses including stroke, head trauma, head and neck cancer, chronic airway disorder, and related disorders; and services for speech, language, and swallowing in a medically based practice; pediatric to geriatric patient populations. Collaborate with other health care providers and families. Prepare and maintain patient care documentation in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, NYS licensure, clinical certification in Speech Pathology (or its equivalent) and completion of clinical fellowship year required. BLS-CPR certification required by time of appointment.
