Job summary

SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for weekend per-diem coverage in Syracuse, NY. You will perform assessment and treatment for swallowing, feeding, speech, language and cognitive disorders across inpatient settings, and collaborate with the care team and families.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s in Speech Pathology, NYS licensure, and clinical certification (or equivalent) with completion of fellowship; BLS-CPR by appointment.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech Pathology required.
• New York State licensure required.
• Clinical certification in Speech Pathology or equivalent required; fellowship completed by appointment.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care including assessment and treatment of swallowing, feeding, speech, language and cognitive disorders.
• Provide services across inpatient settings for diverse diagnoses; collaborate with health care team and families.
• Prepare and maintain timely patient care documentation.

Openings available to for per-diem weekend therapists. The Speech Language Pathologist - Weekend will be responsible for direct patient care including assessment and treatment of swallowing, feeding, speech, language, and cognitive disorders covering the spectrum of inpatient diagnoses including stroke, head trauma, head and neck cancer, chronic airway disorder, and related disorders; and services for speech, language, and swallowing in a medically based practice; pediatric to geriatric patient populations. Collaborate with other health care providers and families. Prepare and maintain patient care documentation in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, NYS licensure, clinical certification in Speech Pathology (or its equivalent) and completion of clinical fellowship year required. BLS-CPR certification required by time of appointment.
