SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for weekend per-diem coverage in Syracuse, NY. The role focuses on direct patient care, including assessment and treatment of swallowing, speech, language and cognitive disorders across inpatient settings.

The position requires a Master’s in Speech Pathology, NYS licensure, and certification (or equivalent), with completion of a clinical fellowship and BLS/CPR by appointment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessment and treatment of swallowing, feeding, speech, language and cognitive disorders.
• Cover the spectrum of inpatient diagnoses including stroke, head trauma, head and neck cancer, chronic airway disorders and related conditions.
• Collaborate with other health care providers and families; document patient care in a timely manner.

The Speech Language Pathologist - Weekend will be responsible for direct patient care including assessment and treatment of swallowing, feeding, speech, language, and cognitive disorders covering the spectrum of inpatient diagnoses including stroke, head trauma, head and neck cancer, chronic airway disorder, and related disorders; and services for speech, language, and swallowing in a medically based practice; pediatric to geriatric patient populations. Collaborate with other health care providers and families. Prepare and maintain patient care documentation in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, NYS licensure, clinical certification in Speech Pathology (or its equivalent) and completion of clinical fellowship year required. BLS-CPR certification required by time of appointment.
