WOWT First Alert 6 is seeking a hybrid powerhouse—part Social Media Strategist, part Newsroom Command Center to own our weekend digital presence and be the eyes and ears of our newsroom when the biggest stories often break. This isn’t just about posting links; it’s about owning the conversation and the coverage across every platform we touch in Omaha, all weekend long.

You are the heartbeat of our weekend coverage and the voice of our brand online in Omaha.

Qualifications

5+ years engaging social audiences across digital platforms.
Ability to edit video and create on-the-fly graphics.
Excellent verbal and written skills; strong AP Style.
Think mobile-first when shaping stories for social.
Willing to dig, verify, and thrive in a weekend newsroom.
Role includes three weekdays in addition to weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Digital Director to develop and execute a high-energy social media strategy.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the newsroom during your shift, managing the assignment desk with urgency and precision.
Monitor scanners, social feeds, emails, and viewer tips to identify breaking news.
Help define and maintain a unique, authoritative voice for WOWT.
Repurpose and edit platform-appropriate videos and graphics from daily coverage.
Work closely with weekend on-air talent and reporters to boost social presence.
