Job summary

WB Manufacturing is seeking a Machine Operator to perform setup, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting on assigned equipment. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, quality checks, and adherence to safety protocols within a high-volume production environment.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED (preferred), with up to 6 months of related experience. Proficiency with MS Office and ERP Insight is desired. This is an on-site, full-time position in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work center to run according to schedule and meet production goals.
  • Upload programs and operate routers, machines, and tablets as trained.
  • Move materials between workstations to support production flow.
  • Perform inspections and document results; escalate defects.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks and record findings.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area on shift.
  • Follow safety rules, report hazards, and wear PPE as required.

Job description

Perform duties to complete various tasks related to machine setup, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and/or preventative maintenance on assigned equipment to meet production goals and standards on a regular basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare work center to run according to schedule and ensure production goals and standards are met.
  • Upload programs into routers, learn and apply concepts to proper operation of machines, computers, and tablets in the area.
  • Move material within or to/from workstations to meet operational needs.
  • Follow proper processes for performing inspections, ensuring accuracy, and allowing for continuous monitoring for defects. If defects are found, the product must be sent to be reworked.
  • Work with other area leads to ensure sufficient product flow.
  • Communicate as necessary with maintenance and/or supervisor using provided equipment.
  • Assist with material handling to provide continuous production at each work center and meet operational needs.
  • Successfully scan work orders and complete paperwork as On-the-Job (OTJ) training requires within a reasonable time frame.
  • Monitor operation of machine, reporting any damage or needed repairs immediately to leadership.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks on machine(s) and properly document those checks via tablets provided by following On-the-Job (OTJ) training documents.
  • Conduct frequent checks on product quality to ensure standards are met, report quality issues to the supervisor.
  • Proactively adjust equipment if deviations occur to provide ongoing continuous quality adjustments for acceptable product.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout scheduled shift as well as perform cleaning duties at designated times to contribute to a safe environment.
  • Make recommendations through specified means of communication, that support a lean and efficient manufacturing environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Practice and model proper safety rules and procedures.
  • Report to and be ready to work at the scheduled start time on a consistent basis.
  • Comply with all safety and company policies.
  • Wear proper PPE equipment as required for the area.

  • 6 months of internal experience as a general laborer.
  • 6 months of experience as a Machine Operator I.
  • 6 months of experience with air handling equipment.
  • Able to understand and calculate metric to standard conversions.

Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Suite, Knowledge of ERP manufacturing software (2020 Insight.).

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

Standing for the working hours of each shift, 10 + hours daily. Walking in the Production department to different areas of work. Speaking, hearing, seeing. Listen and observe the environment for hazard prevention. Use hands for tools. Regularly lift 30-50 lbs. throughout shift. Team-lift as specified by leadership. Employees may perform tasks that require bending, twisting, and turning frequently.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor working environment, hot in Summer, temperature controlled in Winter. Moving machinery, i.e. forklifts, moveable carts, etc. Uneven ground where cart tracks are identified. Air quality may be dusty and potentially require additional PPE in certain areas. Sound level below 85 decibels except in areas specified as requiring hearing protection.
