Job summary

Positronic Industries, Inc. in Springfield, MA is seeking a dynamic Shift Lead to guide an assembly team toward daily production, quality, and safety targets.

You will provide hands-on leadership, monitor metrics, and ensure adherence to procedures on a weekend shift. You will coach staff, enforce safety rules, collaborate with EHS and Quality to uphold AS9100 standards, and drive continuous improvement using lean tools.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, or production schedules.
• 3 years in manufacturing with at least 2 years in a lead/supervisory role.
• Basic computer skills: email, Excel and Word, ERP/MRP data entry.

Job description

Summary Leads and coordinates shift-level assembly team performance, ensuring targets are met for production, quality, and safety through hands-on support and leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead team members and track quality and production goals.
• Coordinate scheduling and monitor workflow efficiency.
• Analyze labor and production data for improvements.
• Inspect finished products and adjust operations accordingly.
• Coach, train, and evaluate team performance.
• Uphold Positronic's standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
• Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
• Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
• Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, including at least 2 years in a lead, team lead, or supervisory role directing the work of others.
• Able to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints or assembly drawings, and production schedules.
• Basic computer skills: email, Microsoft Excel and Word, and entering or pulling data from an ERP/MRP system.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and the ability to enforce safety rules on the floor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, industrial technology, manufacturing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a tight-tolerance, high-reliability manufacturing environment.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement tools; Green Belt or similar certification is a plus.
• Experience scheduling labor, tracking productivity and efficiency metrics, and leading root-cause and corrective-action work.
• Experience with Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or a similar ERP system.

Physical

• Frequent walking with periods of sitting and standing.
• Occasional ladder climbing and stooping.
• Uses arms/hands frequently to assist with machinery.
• Occasionally lifts 0-30 lbs; rarely up to 50 lbs.
• PPE includes safety glasses at all times; gloves as required.

Shift: Weekend Shift (Saturday - Monday 7:00am - 7:30pm)

Working Conditions

Work is performed in production zone with frequent exposure to loud machines and nitrogen-based chemicals.
