Job summary

LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services in the Leesburg, VA area seeks a PRN Evening Weekend Shelter Specialist to support survivors in a 24/7 shelter. You will provide trauma-informed intake, crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals during the Saturday/Sunday 4pm-12am shift, ensuring a calm, safe environment.

You will also respond to hotline calls and high-danger LAP cases, assist with transportation, and help connect survivors to LAWS' full continuum of services.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year in human services, crisis intervention, or hotline experience preferred.
  • Experience providing crisis intervention and de-escalation support.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed, survivor-led intake, crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, and warm handoffs.
  • Respond to survivor hotline calls and high-risk LAP calls with information and connections to safety.
  • Support survivors and their children with basic needs, transportation, and access to services from shelter entry to departure.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, trauma-informed shelter environment emphasizing survivor choice, safety, trust, and empowerment.
