Job summary

Ohio Support Services (OSS) is seeking a Security Officer with armed security experience for weekend leadership and weekday support in Columbus, OH. The role combines frontline duties with escalation of operations and oversight of fellow officers.

Schedule: Saturday to Wednesday, 6:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Duties include patrols, access control, incident reporting, and coordination with emergency responders. A strong customer service mindset and compliance with state requirements are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous security experience required.
• Supervisory/lead officer or team leadership preferred.
• OPOTA certificate if armed assignments are required.
• PISGS division registration for armed assignments, as applicable.
• Maintain de-escalation and conflict resolution training.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States – We Use E-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Provide a highly visible security presence to deter crime and ensure safety.
• Patrol assigned areas on foot or vehicle and monitor access control points.
• Respond to emergencies, alarms, incidents, and calls for service promptly.
• Observe and report suspicious activity and unsafe conditions.
• Prepare incident reports and daily activity logs with accuracy.
• Lead weekend officer duties and support shift coordination.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
• Armed security duties when required, following policy and regulations.
