Job summary

Prime Healthcare in Dallas is seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse (PCU RN) to join our Progressive Care Unit, caring for patients with acute and chronic conditions requiring close monitoring and intervention. This role is Days shift, Full Time Weekends (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon), 12-hour shifts at Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX.

As a PCU RN you will monitor vitals and rhythms, administer medications, perform wound and catheter care, and collaborate with the care team to ensure

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS (AHA) certification on hire and maintain current.
• ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care (critical care preferred).
• Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
• Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory status, and overall clinical stability, monitoring for deterioration and responding promptly.
• Utilize telemetry and other monitoring devices to continually monitor cardiac rhythms, SpO2, blood pressure, and other parameters; recognize and interpret abnormalities.
• Administer medications as directed by physicians, including IV meds, antibiotics, pain management, and cardiac meds, while monitoring for adverse reactions.
• Perform nursing interventions and treatments as ordered by physicians, such as wound care, catheter care, suctioning, and oxygen therapy.
• Adhere to evidence-based guidelines, hospital policies, and infection control and safety protocols.

Overview

We are seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse or PCU RN, internally referred to as our Progressive Care Nurse. In the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), the PCU RN or Step-Down RN will provide specialized care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical conditions who require close monitoring, intervention, and support to optimize their outcomes and facilitate their transition to lower levels of care.

Shift’s Available: Days

Employment Type: Full Time Weekends (Friday- Sunday OR Sautrday - Monday)

Hours: 12hr

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Conduct assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory status, and overall clinical stability, you will need to monitor changes in patients' conditions and respond promptly to any deterioration
• Utilize telemetry and other monitoring devices to continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation levels, blood pressure, and other parameters you must be able to recognize and interpret abnormalities in monitoring data
• Administer medications as directed by physicians, encompassing intravenous medications, antibiotics, pain management medications, and cardiac medications, while vigilantly monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or side effects
• Perform nursing interventions and treatments as ordered by physicians, such as wound care, catheter care, suctioning, and administration of oxygen therapy, which may include assisting with procedures
• Adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, hospital policies, and protocols related to patient care, infection control, and safety

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

• Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
• Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
