Job summary

Medical City Denton is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit. This full-time night-shift role (7pm–7am with rotating weekends) offers bedside care, collaboration with physicians, and opportunities for growth within a nationwide transfer program.

You will coordinate pre- and post-operative patient care, document actions, administer medications, and advocate for patients to ensure an exceptional experience. ACLS/BCLS certification required within 30 days of start date.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year PCU RN experience required.
  • ACLS and BCLS certifications required within 30 days of start date.
  • Associate Degree; BSN preferred with magnet status.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, reporting changes.
  • Perform procedures as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Document care in the patient record in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor response.
  • Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment in cardiac and medical-surgical care.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The PCU RN coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:
  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
  • Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
Qualifications you will need:
  • Must have 1+ year(s) of experience in PCU as an RN
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Experience with stepdown patients to include: CVA, CIWA, trach, peg tube care, medical management, heparin gtts, & cardene gtts
  • Associate Degree; BSN required w/ 12 months enrollment and 24 months completion (magnet hospital)
