Job summary

UPMC's Emergency Department is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Weekend Program as RN Staff Nurse on weekends.

This full-time position covers weekend nights, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a target of 48 weekends per year and a generous sign-on bonus of $15,000. The role offers a competitive starting pay, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for ongoing education and development.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months nursing experience.
• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Must satisfactorily complete Nursing Department orientation and probation.
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire; earn one of eight listed certifications within two years of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Provide Direct Care: administer medications and IV therapy following policy.
• Assess and Reassess: evaluate patient and family needs; reassess every eight hours or as needed.
• Plan Care: involve patients and families in care plans; coordinate with community agencies.
• Engage in Team Discussions: collaborate with medical staff to develop patient care plans.
• Utilize Systems: operate Bed Management System, Alpha, CPOE, and other systems.
• Teach and Lead: provide health teaching to patients and staff; support team members.
