Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) for the Emergency Department. The role is 0.9 full-time with rotating evening and night shifts, plus every-other weekend and holiday rotation. Shifts are 11a-11p, 3p-3a, 7p-7a, totaling 36 hours weekly.

A minimum starting pay of $22.12/hour plus a $1.60 shift differential applies, with a generous sign-on bonus of $12,500 for eligible candidates meeting a two-year work commitment. This is a union AFSCME position.

Qualifications

• LPN license required.
• Experience in ED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for meals and nourishment; assist with feeding, including tube feedings.
• Assist patients with toileting, collect and label specimens, and help with bed mobility, turning, lifting, positioning, and ambulating.
• Administer medications as ordered by a licensed physician or dentist under RN supervision.
• Observe, report, and document unusual symptoms or care provided according to unit policies.
• Respond promptly to nurse call systems and escort patients to designated departments.
• Maintain patient rooms and equipment and assist with patient admissions, orientations, transfers, and discharges.
